Role Purpose
K3547 – New Leaf Search has partnered with a specialist lender in its search for a Senior Credit Underwriter. In this role, you will analyse and structure credit proposals within delegated mandate (or recommend for approval), while maintaining strong broker relationships to discuss and negotiate transactions.
You will also take on a designated area of specialism, ensuring lending is safe, procedures are fit for purpose, and colleagues are cross-trained. Additionally, you’ll mentor and coach less experienced team members and champion the direct access to credit partner model.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse, structure and negotiate asset finance proposals, approving under mandate or recommending for approval.
Spread financial accounts, apply/develop rating models, and prepare credit papers/reports.
Manage sanctioned proposals through to drawdown, liaising with credit, admin and professional advisers.
Research industries and collateral to support robust applications.
Build and maintain strong broker/intermediary relationships, encouraging renewal business and ensuring high service levels.
Monitor loan offer terms, security valuations and inspection reports to ensure compliance with procedures.
Resolve outstanding issues promptly with brokers and customers.
Mentor and support junior colleagues, sharing expertise and promoting best practice across the team.
Skills & Competencies
Extensive Asset Finance underwriting experience
Strong financial analysis, credit assessment, and underwriting skills (HP & FL agreements)
Highly organised, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong relationship management with brokers/intermediaries
Knowledge of CRM/data systems, Word, Excel & Outlook
