​​J2729 - Our client is seeking a Credit Underwriter to review and underwrite Consumer Loans introduced by third parties. You will be awarded a lending mandate (sanctioning authority) based on your experience, knowledge and proven competence. This is a home-working role with travel required to our clients Gtr London office twice a month. Salary: To £50,000 plus excellent benefits and bonus. Location: UK, Eng (Flexible).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Underwrite lending applications within your mandate and assess applications outside of your mandate, seeking higher authority approvals where required by policy.

Review “referred” consumer lending opportunities which have not met the Credit Scoring Auto Approval Criteria, delivering timely outcomes in line with agreed Service Levels.

Responsible for first line review of any appealed decisions.

Engagement in ongoing development of the broader Credit function; leverage your skills and experience to that effect.

Become involved in systems and application testing along with various other tasks as assigned by the Department’s Credit Manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Previously Underwriting experience with a UK Retail Credit Business with specific Consumer Loans experience.

Experience of working in an FCA regulated environment.

Strong understanding of and ability to interpret CRA Reports, Credit Scoring and Decisioning Rules.

Ideally some experience of systems and application testing though training can be provided.

Strong communication skills with experience of handling difficult conversations.
