Job description

​J2941 - Our client is seeking a Senior Asset Manager to focus on valuation risk, encompassing current and future asset valuations, performed remotely and on site, across multiple markets and finance products. You will also assess portfolio exposure risk for modelling.  The role also encompasses inventory management of returning assets and engagement with the market for their disposal and resale.  

Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits. Location: UK, Hampshire / S Eng (Hybrid)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactive inspection and assessment of assets, including their condition, conformity, provenance, and appropriate nature as an underlying security for the portfolio.

  • Remote and occasional on-site valuation of assets, including insight into the nature and use of the asset as anticipated or undertaken by the asset operator.

  • Regular valuation of groups of assets on a portfolio-wide scale to aid in the determination of asset equity and risk exposure.

  • Maintain a dedicated focus on pertinent issues affecting the current and future state of the markets served, including new technology and key regulatory changes.

  • Maintain a clear working knowledge of the Credit Risk Policy and other key policies.

  • Inventory management and remarketing of returned assets to secure underlying profitability or recovery of Lessee arrears.

  • Undertake business-wide familiarity training and act as the key asset knowledge resource for the business alongside other Senior Asset Managers.

  • Maintain a strong network of industry contacts and reputable traders, including 3rd Party Collection, Storage, Valuation and Remarketing Partners.

  • Maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders within the wider business and maintain awareness of the financial objectives of the business.

  • Occasional attendance to the premises of Lessees subject to arrears, with the intention of attaining funds, or identifying challenges in the event of repossession.

  • Liaison with key personnel across the business, including Asset Managers, Recoveries and Collections Agents and Sales personnel.

  • Liaison with key 3rd Parties, including Inspection Agents, Repossession Agents, Liquidators, Company Administrators, Valuation Partners and others.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an asset-based industry.

  • Academic Diploma or Certificate in industry-specific subject matter desirable.

  • Membership to an associated industry Institute desirable.

  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written.

  • Decisiveness and an excellent ability to problem solve.

  • Adaptability, amiability, and ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

  • Ability to work independently and with others in a cross-functional environment.

  • Proven ability to accurately assess and value physical assets.

  • Full Driving License.

  • Ability to negotiate and handle challenging situations, particularly with aggrieved parties.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Planning and ability to self-organise.

  • Excellent knowledge of assets within the specialist markets targeted.

  • Strong commercial awareness.

We strongly favour applicants with proven, relevant experience in Financial Services; particularly in Asset Finance and Leasing.

Applicants will only be considered with relevant in-country experience.
