Job description

​J3069 - Our client is seeking a Head of Credit and Risk to lead, oversee and manage all aspects of the asset finance and block discounting business including underwriting, collections and asset management and portfolio management functions. You will establish robust credit processes and controls as well as ensure development, direction and management of strategic initiatives.

Salary: To £95,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits. Location: UK, SE England / Essex (Hybrid)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the underwriting function and adherence to approved Credit Policy for the asset finance and block discounting business.

  • Underwrite individual transactions and credit facilities within agreed business appetite, policy and delegated authority framework.

  • Resource, develop, performance manage and motivate the credit team to achieve company objectives.

  • Manage and coach all direct reports, including all aspects of performance management, development, conduct, sickness management and appraisals.

  • Accountable for the overall quality of the asset finance and block discounting portfolios.

  • Manage and run the collections department to ensure potential losses are minimal and within budgeted expectations and to ensure the highest levels of customer service quality and competency are maintained thereby minimising risk and costs.

  • The maintenance of robust collections procedures in line with company policy and regulatory requirements.

  • Responsible for the risk function including reporting of same.

  • Appraise the credit and risk position of the company and to provide reports on business performance, profitability and growth as required.

  • Provide timely production of management information and to ensure the continued development of quality management information to support better decision making.

  • Manage inherent risks to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Asset Finance and Leasing experience a pre-requisite.

  • Proven experience in a decision-making function.

  • Ability to lead and manage teams.

  • Strong credit and underwriting experience.

  • Strong collections experiences.

  • Good knowledge of block discounting.

We strongly favour applicants with proven, relevant experience in Financial Services; particularly in Asset Finance and Leasing.

Applicants will only be considered with relevant in-country experience.
