J3099 - Our client is seeking an In-House Lawyer to work as part of a small team, assisting the Head of Legal. You will have responsibility for legal risk management; lead role on transaction and contract management; dispute resolution; delivering legal awareness training; robust legal file governance; providing general legal and regulatory advice to Senior Management and other staff; and escalation of issues to Head of Legal and Senior Management. You must be must be a qualified solicitor, evidenced with a current Solicitor’s practicing certificate or equivalent, ideally with experience and knowledge of asset leasing or commercial and contract law with a law firm or in-house. CCA and FSMA experience is desirable, but not essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review, draft and negotiate documentation for the business.
Provide transaction and deal support in conjunction with Risk/Credit and other business departments.
Instruct and supervise external counsel.
Act as the first point of contact on externally instructed files, taking account of budget requirements.
Support senior management in relation to regulatory issues, queries and investigations.
Manage litigation/disputes/complaints against business.
Support theHead of Legal Group reporting obligations and committees including legal risk reporting.
Oversight and training of Paralegal.
Adhering to policies, procedures, guidelines and the internal control framework.
Ensure that adequate controls are in place to minimise risk to business; and regularly review them to ensure they reflect business needs.
Other adhoc duties as may be required by the Head of Legal from time to time.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
You must be a qualified solicitor, evidenced with a current Solicitor’s practicing certificate or equivalent.
You will ideally have experience and knowledge of asset leasing or commercial and contract law with a law firm or in-house.
CCA and FSMA experience is desirable, but not essential.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to give advice and influence internal and external customers.
Capable of analysing problems rigorously and from all angles, showing sound practical judgement as well as academic ability.
Proven track record of drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
Ability to provide sound practical commercial advice, underpinned by the law but avoiding complex legal jargon.
We strongly favour applicants with proven, relevant experience in Financial Services; particularly in Asset Finance and Leasing.
Applicants will only be considered with relevant in-country experience.
