Job description

​J3257 - New Leaf Search has partnered with a bank based specialist financial services organisation in its search for an Asset Manager, Hard Assets. This is a multi-function role within the Asset Management team, encompassing the management of asset inspection services, valuations, recoveries and remarketing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Covering all elements of the Asset inspection services, Physical Asset Verification (PAV) and Sub Hire Verification SHV) including:

  • Set-up and operation of internal administration control and reporting processes.

  • Commissioning of inspections to 3rd party inspection providers.

  • Receipt of inspection reports, validation, escalation of actions, stakeholder communication.

  • Review and approval of invoices for 3rd party inspections.

  • 3rd Party provider performance monitoring to SLA, including internal reporting and issue escalation.

  • Diary management for repeat inspections consistent with current inspection policies.

  • Maintenance of process operating procedures.

  • Provide Asset valuations, collateral curves and relevant exit route narrative in response to requests from commercial and Risk teams.  Support Collections and recoveries with in-life valuations for provision purposes.

  • Attend credit deal forums to provide objective asset management commentary to opportunities presented.

  • Provide support and develop expertise and knowledge in new sectors in support of commercial opportunities, in line with business policies and Risk appetite.

  • Maintain the register of approved valuers and complete annual approval.

  • Maintain a network of geographically dispersed 3rd party partners to support voluntary terminations from customers and execute asset recovery in default situations.

  • Create and issue recovery documentation to customers and our 3rd party agents, track the return of the assets and update inventory records accordingly.

  • Receive asset inspection reports, evaluate NRV, make appropriate provisions and approve repairs where economically expedient.

  • Assess the appropriate disposal channel and consign / sell the asset.

  • Carry out customer due diligence in line with business policies, track payment receipts and complete invoicing for all sales. 

  • Approve invoices received for 3rd party services

  • Maintain a set of KPIs and report performance against these monthly.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Preferably educated to Degree Level and ideally supported by a professional qualification in Banking or Risk Management.

  • Good knowledge of Commercial Banking credit risk policy frameworks. 

  • A minimum of 3 years direct previous experience of Asset Management. 

  • The role holder must be articulate in written and verbal communications and be confident and assertive.

  • Detailed knowledge of asset valuation techniques and a well-developed network of sector experts to support valuation opinions and default exit strategy.

  • Experience of conducting asset research and presenting opinions and recommendations in a structured and concise fashion to assist the decision making processes of stakeholders

  • Intermediate Excel skills to enable process control, tracking and reporting.  The ability to create pivot tables, use lookup and data handling techniques and manage large volumes of analytical data is essential. 

  • Superior organisational and administration skills demonstrated through management of complex and varied activities across multiple IT platforms. Exposure to internal audit in a financial services environment an advantage.

  • Sound commercial business judgement enhanced by an entrepreneurial view.

  • Collaborative with the ability to develop strong working relationships across a diverse and fast-growing organisation.

  • Conscientious with good attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong commitment to excellence with a focus on quality output.

  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • High levels of drive, energy and tenacity.
