New Leaf Search has partnered with a specialist finance provider in its search for an Underwriter.

💷 Salary: To £60,000 plus excellent bonus and benefits
📍 Location: UK, South of England (Remote/Hybrid)

Key Accountabilities:

• Underwrite new credit proposals within personal mandate.

• Recommend proposals exceeding mandate for Senior Underwriter or Credit Manager approval.

• Review credit proposals above other underwriters’ mandates, providing constructive feedback as needed.

• Ensure credit analyses are appropriate for the level of advance and compliant with QA standards.

• Complete annual reviews accurately and within set deadlines.

• Build effective internal and external relationships across SME Lending, Sales, Asset Management, and Collections/Recoveries.

• Promote open communication and collaboration across departments.

• Attend customer visits to enhance understanding and improve credit decision quality.

Person Specification:

• Experience in commercial lending, covering both secured and unsecured facilities.

• Ability to assess high volumes of lower-value proposals efficiently and accurately.

• Understanding of direct and broker-led origination models.

• Strong commercial awareness with sound credit judgement.

• Excellent written communication and credit paper preparation skills.

• Organised, detail-oriented, and able to balance risk with opportunity.

• UK market experience essential.
